A frictionless checkout experience that lets customers pay in just a few clicks; securely, at any participating merchant; powered by Mastercard's Click to Pay solution.
Online checkout abandonment is one of the biggest revenue leaks in e-commerce. Long forms, repeated card entry, and an inconsistent experience across merchants were costing customers time and costing merchants conversions. Mastercard's Click to Pay promised to fix this — but the solution only worked if the checkout experience felt native, trusted, and effortless on each merchant's platform.
The challenge was designing a single, cohesive Click to Pay checkout experience that could be implemented consistently across 80+ merchants in Australia and worldwide, each with their own design systems, technical constraints, and customer expectations.
Reviewed checkout patterns across merchant partners and mapped the edge cases — guest vs. returning users, single vs. multi-card wallets, mobile vs. desktop breakpoints — to define a flexible but consistent design baseline.
Designed the complete Click to Pay checkout journey: email recognition, card selection, OTP verification via SMS, and order confirmation — optimised to reduce steps and reinforce trust at each stage.
Presented the proposed checkout experience to 80+ merchant stakeholders. Facilitated working sessions with solution architects and design teams to address integration constraints and reach alignment on the final flow.
Produced a detailed design specification agreed upon by both Mastercard and merchant partners — covering interaction states, error handling, accessibility requirements, and responsive behaviour for seamless implementation.
